A pair of Sandusky Central Catholic School students was recently awarded the highest honor possible through the Boy Scouts of America.  Senior Keegan Murray and Sophomore Chris Tyler were promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout in a special ceremony at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Sandusky.  The two young men are members of Pack 7 chartered through St. Mary’s Church.  The event was attended by local politicians and the honorees were presented with special recognition from Erie County Commissioner Bill Monaghan.

Eagle scouts must earn a total of 21 merit badges. Merit badges can be earned in a variety of disciplines.  Chris’ favorite merit badge was Water Lifesaving while Keegan enjoyed earning his Wilderness Survival badge. Another requirement is the completion of a large service project.  Chris created Emergency First Aid kits that were placed in classrooms and public areas of SCCS while Keegan constructed a work and storage station for the high school art room.  It typically takes four years to complete the process of becoming an Eagle Scout.
