St. Mary Central Catholic High School art teacher Karen Shaylor invited visiting artist Kate Ball to share her talents with students. Ms. Shaylor has been pioneering the visiting artist program at SMCC for over a decade. Students get the opportunity to work with a different professional artist during a 3 week residency each year.

This year's visiting artist was Kate Ball, who lives and works in Cincinnati, Ohio. She studied Printmaking at Ohio Wesleyan University and Eastern Illinois University, and received an M.F.A. in New Media from the University of Cincinnati. Kate facilitates stop-motion animation workshops and is an Ohio Arts Council Artist in Residence. This year, art students were able to work collaboratively to create their own animations, thanks to grants from the Ohio Arts Council and the Mylander Foundation.
