Director of Campus Ministry

Sandusky Central Catholic School, in Sandusky, Ohio is seeking a full-time Campus Minister to help our students and staff grow in their Catholic Faith. The ideal candidate is first and foremost a person who is passionate about discipling young people, a faithful, practicing and high-energy Catholic, eager to work with a wide range of students of different ages to help them grow in their Catholic faith. In being a guide in the spiritual life, this person should have a strong prayer life and a boldness in sharing the message of Jesus Christ. This position requires a clear understanding of relational ministry so that the students of the school can receive the help that they need in continuing to grow in their faith.

Responsibilities in the area of Liturgies and Spiritual life include, but are not limited to: scheduling and planning the K-12 weekly liturgies, working with the parishes to schedule these Masses, speaking with the priest and musicians to plan for the celebration, organizing and training liturgical ministers to assist at these school Masses, planning and execution of yearly retreats for grades 1-12, (for elementary this would be a half day retreat, for grades 6-10 retreats are a full day, and retreats for grades 11-12 cover multiple days and nights); be a member and attend Catholic Identity Committee meetings as well as to offer prayer services and classroom/student assistance as needed; additionally, this position oversees the day to day running of the school’s house system (6-12 grade). Responsibilities for the House system include, but are not limited to: organizing new membership for the incoming 6 th grade class, organizing daily convocations, organize monthly mentoring opportunities where middle school and high school assist elementary classrooms with a project, plan service days twice a year for the middle school and high school students, plan House Masses and breakfasts once a month. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: oversight of new teachers’ (1-3 years) completion of online religious training through the diocese as well as the yearly online religious assessments of the whole student body required through the diocese.

Qualifications: Must be a fully-initiated Catholic in good standing. Possess excellent leadership skills, communication, organizational, administrative, and management skills. Have a knowledge of adolescent and young adult culture, working knowledge of standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite. A Bachelor’s Degree of Theology, Catechetics, or Youth Ministry is a plus, but not absolutely necessary.
