Sandusky Central Catholic School held its President’s Breakfast and State of the School address this week at Sts. Peter and Paul Gathering Space. More than 100 guests joined Geoff Palmer, President and Head of School, to hear more about the past year and to learn about the school’s strategic vision.  Guests include representatives from Erie County and City of Sandusky Administration, Police and Fire Departments, and SCCS Board and Foundation members, donors, alumni, and students.

Following an opening invocation by Father Jeff Walker the school’s Priest Leader, City Manager Eric Wobser spoke about the connection and importance of Catholic education to the revitalization of Sandusky and the continued draw of new families to the city. With more than 150 years of quality academic excellence and its location in downtown Sandusky, guests applauded the school’s success.

Mr. Palmer’s remarks highlighted the school’s academic excellence and ACT scores, students’ ability to participate in 18 varsity sports, 27 college credits offered on campus, 100% graduation rate, 1:1 technology program for all students, and $100,000 in Scholarships awarded by the SCCS Education Foundation.

According to Mr. Palmer, “today was a great opportunity for us to share our vision with our community.  As the oldest and best educational institution in downtown Sandusky, our past success is leading us to a very bright future. Our student enrollment continues to grow because parents are eager for their children to experience our school’s safe, family learning environment with an emphasis on faith and academic excellence.”

Additionally, Mr. Palmer highlighted the School and Education Foundation Annual Report (online at sanduskycc.org) and the new strategic vision that was adopted by the Board this August following an extensive year-long planning process.  The plan states:

  • We will build leaders who are confident, service-minded, and prepared for life by offering all families a strong value for their investment in a Catholic education.
  • We will empower all students through a rigorous academic program that builds character and the necessary skills to be the best versions of themselves.
  • We will equip all students and staff with appropriate facilities and instructional resources to succeed in a globally competitive environment.
  • We will grow our community presence to bring our internal and external communities closer together by offering more opportunities for engagement.
