Fullam's 5 for 5 Homecoming Royalty

Bill and Mary Fullam are extremely proud of their five children who have attended Sandusky Central Catholic School. One reason is because all of them have been crowned either homecoming king or queen during their senior years at St. Mary Central Catholic High School.
“Well, to be honest, it is actually quite humbling,” Bill Fullam said. “And, of course, there is a certain amount of pride and happiness for your children when something like this happens.”
On Friday, Oct. 7 prior to SMCC’s football game versus Danbury High School, Ava Fullam was chosen as the 2022 homecoming queen. With the honor, Ava joined her four older siblings – who were all in attendance – in
being celebrated at the Panthers’ annual homecoming contest.
“To say we are proud of Ava, and all of our children, would be a gross understatement,” the Fullam patriarch
said. Fullam alumni who were kings are Andrew '22 and Aiden ’19. Besides Ava, the other queens in the family are Abby ‘20 and Allison ’17. “I was excited to carry on the Fullam tradition,” Ava said. “It’s a special honor. I knew a couple of my siblings were coming back, but not all of them.”
Ava is extremely active at SMCC and well deserving of her recent accolade. She is a member of the National
Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and Teen Leadership Corps while serving as president of the House
of Therese and vice president for the class of 2023. A volleyball team captain, Ava also is involved with
cheerleading, basketball and softball. Additionally, she walks dogs as a volunteer for the Erie County Dog
Warden. Ava plans to study nursing at Xavier University in Cincinnati, following in the footsteps of her mother
and two sisters. “As the youngest of five, all born within six years of each other, Ava has developed a unique set of skills,” Bill said. “She quietly and consistently goes about her academic, athletic, service and outside work with great skill, and equally great results.”
While a student at SMCC, Ava has overcome some obstacles. Outside of the COVID-19 pandemic hitting during her freshman year, she has bounced back strong from ankle and wrist injuries from competing in sports. “In a word, I would say Ava is resilient,” her father said. “And determined. And a fighter. We are now fully into
her senior year at SMCC.” Along with their parents, the Sandusky Central Catholic School community also is extremely proud of the Fullam children. Conversely, Bill and Mary Fullam are quite happy with the education and experience their kids have had as SCCS/SMCC students.
“To be completely honest, the bottom line is that while Mary and I certainly played a part in the development
and maturation of our children, we cannot emphasize enough the role that the faith-based, Catholic education provided at SMCC contributed,” Bill concluded. “Ava has spent her entire elementary and high school years
under the guidance of some of the finest teachers, advisors, administrators and board members that any
parent could ever ask for as stewards of our youth. We feel very blessed, and thankful, to have made the
decision to move here in 2008, and honestly do not think our children would have been better served
anywhere else.”
